Ultimate SEO's Story

A Top Rated SEO Freelancer

Matt Leffler, SEO Frelancer

I started working as a freelancer frankly out of necessity. I had moved back to my hometown of Louisville, KY from Chicago and was able to keep my job.  A year after leaving Chicago I was laid off and found myself living outside of my professional environment.

I went ahead and interviewed for those help desk positions, instructional designers and software trainer positions but in every case the position offered less challenges, about half the previous positions salary.  Louisville claims to be possibility city but it became a joke to me how impossible it was to find comparable work.  I was an ice hockey player living in Phoenix Arizona.

I’d have moved back to Chicago but was weary  of relocating to a more expensive market without a job.

I’d always been interested in cloud computing and I knew Amazon with AWS and Google with GCP needed software trainers so I set out to learn those platforms and needed “use cases” to guide my self teaching.

I’m not sure how I stumbled across Upwork but it seemed the best option.  An opportunity to make money, where I was, and using the clients needs as my tutorials for WordPress, cloud computing and eventually SEO.

It was slow starting I didn’t really land my first client that paid more than a couple hundred dollars till after the first three months.

To show clients what I could do I spent those three months building my own sites, one after another all on cloud servers I created.  I paid for AWS, Google Cloud Platform, cPanel and other tools out of pocket and scraped by on a shoe string budget.  If I didn’t get a job to build an ecommerce site, Id go ahead and build an ecommerce site.  If I didn’t get a job for building backlinks I’d go ahead and build backlinks.  I used client job requests as hypothetical case studies.

Since the start though I’ve had a dedication and determination to learn and grow and Upwork eventually started to pay off with more client engagements and opportunities.  I always knew that reputation was everything and exceeding client expectations was key to long term growth.

I started off as “Rising Talent” and quickly became “Top Rated” once enough time was banked.  I’ve been top rated every week for over a year now.

Ultimate SEO has become an extension of this experience and is an Upwork agency.  I’ve built teams to carry tasks for larger projects and these teams formed the nucleus of Ultimate SEO.

Ultimate SEO became an LLC in August of 2019. I’m dedicated to seeing it grow and provide more opportunities to people I meet as either a great place to work or a great place to hire for your work

I’m proud to say that former and current employees said their work laptop was their first computer. We’ve hired people that hadn’t always been given the easiest opportunities.  One such employee was a 19 yr old father who was homeless just months before working with us who’s goals were to get his drivers license and eventually move out of the home he had been placed at by a charitable group.

I knew I could teach someone computer skills but I couldn’t teach them the will to overcome what others might have thought them capable of…I couldn’t teach them pride, independence or confidence.  What I could do was give them a chance to learn it for themselves.

Ultimate SEO offers free tools, advice and information on popular SEO topics and rank worthy skills. Cloud Computing: Digital Ocean vs Google Cloud vs AWS

This post originally only focused on cost and user experience but after a real world case study and experiment I have some performance data and it is actually surprising. Teaser here … in a head to head test between AWS and Digital Ocean one of these  two out performed the other in
  1. rate of requests handled
  2. number of requests processed
  3. time it took to process each request.
  4. The same winner of those won 10 / 10 speed tests and the results were not close.
The results of these tests convinced a previously skeptical client’s IT team into switching cloud providers.Scroll down to the section “VPS Performance” …
